Bedrooms (3)

main bedroom
main bedroom

  • Bedrooms are usually only used for sleeping. Sleep was very important in this time. In this plantation house, there were three bedrooms. There was one room for the girls, one room for the boys, and the last room was for the parents or adults of the house. All of the bedrooms were bery private. Absolutely no one outside of the family would be allowed in these rooms.
  • This room would be well-fitting for an adult's room because it is very spacious. It has a large bed for both os the adults (if there were more than one). This room also would be good for an adult because it would be the biggest bedroom in the house.

Parlor (2)

    • The parlor of a house is where house guests were usually greeted when they entered the home. General socialization would occur in one of these rooms. In a large plantation house, there would be two parlors(one for the men and one for the women). These rooms generally would have been on seperate sides of the house.

    • This example of a parlor is nice and elegant. Good china would have been set up at all of the tables. This would show the guests that the owner of eh house has a lot of money he can spend to please them.

Kitchen (1)

    • The kitchen would have been used for preparing the food for the owner and his family. Normally in this room would be the kitchen slaves. The slaves would start preparing the food early in the day because it took longer for all of the cources to cook than it does now.

Pantry (1)

    • The pantry holds all of the ingredients needed to make any meal for the family and guests of the plantation. The cook was usually a slave or someone from another country. The pantry was usually located close to the kitchen for easy access for the cook and the slaves that helped in the kitchen.

Garden (1)

    • The garden for a plantation owner like this is a wonderful place to show off the wealth and power of the owner of this huge plantation(esp. the wierdly shaped maple trees). This is also a geat place for the children to play, and spend time with friends. This is also a good place to just take a walk and be at one with nature.

Saves Quarters (15)

    • This is just one jof the many homes for the slaves of this plantation. It is not very big. The slaves will eat, sleep, and conduct all of their biness in these rooms. They are usually located very close to the feilds and barns, so no time will be wasted by walking to and from the fields.==Formal Dining Room (1)us==

    • The fomal dining room is for eating meals when the family will have guests over. The couch is blue. In this time, blue was a very expensive color. Also to show off this plantation owmer's wealth, fine china and portrates are in the room as well as gold frames for the pictures.

Informal Dining Room (1)

    • The informal dining room for this family is for eating meals when it is just for the family, and no guests are present. This room is very big. It could also be a dance Hall There are 2 windows so there will be plenty of light. There is fine china on the table, whch shows the owner has lots of money
